With "SB Alert" the campus community can be notified in the event of an emergency
through a variety of ways, including text messaging, email, the campus outdoor siren,
activation of the building voice capable fire alarm systems, the SCALA public displays
throughout campus, computers equipped to receive Alertus desktop alert notifications,
social media posts, or any combination thereof. The campus also utilizes "SB Guardian,"
which serves two main functions for your safety: Panic Call Mode and Safety Tracking.
The Community Relations Team offers a host of self-defense and safety training courses,
including rape aggression, de-escalation, pedestrian safety and distracted driving,
and more.
Mobility and Parking Services offers a wide range of transportation services for
the Stony Brook communities. With AED, hands-only CPR, NARCAN, and Stop the Bleed trainings, the campus community
can learn life-saving tactics.
Through a new comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS). The SMS is a software
database solution from Salute Safety that is designed to manage risk, ensure safety
and compliance, and improve efficiency. Users can access a wide range of safety and
compliance activities, including safety training, laboratory and research safety,
hazardous materials management, worker safety programs, fire safety and emergency
response.Mobility & Parking Services coordinates parking needs for all Stony Brook special
events. Reach out if you are planning an event on campus where you will require guest
or event parking, or, if your department needs group parking passes or valet.
Many of the classroom doors on campus utilize our campus card access system, Lenel,
and are locked/unlocked based on class schedules and building needs that are programmed
every semester. Should these need to be changed; please have a department administrator
consult with their building manager to reach out to our Access Control team.
