Presidential Mini-Grants

The Presidential Mini-Grants are designed to foster new projects, to test out ideas and to determine what may be the seeds of growth for the University.

This long-standing program supports proposals that align with the missions of SUNY and Stony Brook to deliver top-quality education, professional development, and robust research. It also emphasizes experiential programming with the broadest possible access, ensuring representation from all segments of the population.

Drawing on a total pool of $30,000, the award amount granted will be determined by the number of grants selected and approved for funding. Awards have ranged from $1,000 to $4,000 in recent years, and last year the average award was $2,500.
