Vick Quezada is an interdisciplinary artist and Associate Professor at Stony Brook University, specializing in sculpture and interdisciplinary art practices. Their work explores Mestiza/x and Indigenous-Latinx histories, queer and Indigenous epistemologies, and US-Mexico border politics, with a focus on material culture and Rasquachismo (found object). Quezada holds a BA from the University of Texas at El Paso and an MFA from University Massachusetts at Amherst.
They have been recognized with prestigious fellowships, including the Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship (co-sponsored by the Ford Foundation) and the Yale Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration Fellowship. Their work has been featured in Hyperallergic, The New York Times, and BOMB Magazine, among others. Residencies include Socrates Sculpture Park, MASS MoCA, and the Latinx Project at NYU.
Quezada’s teaching philosophy centers on equity and creativity, fostering interdisciplinary connections in their courses to strengthen students' intellectual and artistic skills. They integrate 3D (sculpture, ceramics), 4D (video, performance, installation), and 2D (drawing) into their practice and pedagogy, creating dynamic learning environments.
